Food Pantries
Members of St. Mark's join others in providing gifts of canned and boxed food for two food pantries. Contributions support the St. Paul's Food Pantry in Syracuse and the Baldwinsville Food pantry. Please help regularly by placing donated food in the church's Gathering Room in the indicated boxes. A posted sheet lists preferred items.
Lutheran Congregations in the wider Syracuse area have joined together with Habitat for Humanity, with the financial assistance of Thrivent for Lutherans, to build homes for
families in need and to help restore neighborhoods. Everyone's help is needed, be it building, providing food for workers, and financial giving.
Community Dinners
On the third Thursday of each month St. Mark's offers free dinners between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to any individuals or families in need of them. People of the church cook in St. Mark's kitchen and serve the meal in the large Gathering Room. Help is always needed and appreciated in supporting these dinners.
Gift Giving
At certain times of the year members of St. Mark's provide gifts for people in need. Christmas gifts are provided to the Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau. All are invited to participate in these gift-giving opportunities.
Ministry to Farm Workers
St. Mark's periodically provides varieties of support to the Northeast Farm Workers' Association.
Boy Scouts
St. Mark's sponsors Boy Scout Troop 114, which meets at the Palmer School Monday evenings when school in session from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Over 15 boys, age 11 to 18, are involved in the program. Additional activities include a monthly outdoor program and one week summer residence camp. Also offered is a one-week canoeing / backpacking adventure in the Adirondacks and a three or four day trip into the high peaks region.
Nursing Home Services
St. Mark's Church and other area congregations provide a worship and pastoral care ministry to residents of the Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville.
